About Us

Origins

Here at Deathsmile we believe in quality rather than quantity and as cliche as that phrase is in the fashion industry, it’s the truth. Growing up in the heart of Los Angeles, I have always loved that LA skater style streetwear- rocking Jordans to weddings, wearing the same five pairs of baggy pants until I grew out of them, even going so far as to wear hoodies during those hot LA summers just because it completed my outfit. As I grew older and started ordering clothes online, I noticed that many new pieces had great designs yet lacked in the material department. This is when I noticed that the quality of clothing had gone down. I was tired of dropping all my money on clothes that would be completely destroyed in the dryer a week later. What started as simple google searches to learn about clothing materials, ended up with personally reaching out to numerous warehouses and experimenting with their blends. I fell in love with making and wearing my own clothes after that and when friends and passerbys would ask me things like, “yo bro where’d you get that shirt? It’s fire!” I knew that I had to try to make something out of this.

Meaning

There can be an immeasurable amount of translations and decipherings to encapsulate the idea of Deathsmile, here we decided to capture the idea of celebration and perseverance. We’ve all experienced loss in our lives- losing a beloved family member, losing a beloved pet, losing a friend. Loss is tragic and grieving no matter the circumstance but we at Deathsmile decided to push the idea of celebrating the time we had with our loved ones rather than being sad as we know that they would only want to see us happy and thriving.

The other message that we established the brand name upon is about perseverance. Many people have dreams yet never pursue them due to many factors. We have had our doubts about starting this clothing brand, but here we are pushing through uncertainty. We hope to one day be a testament to that mindset with pursuing our dream. With that being said, this is our message to you:

“Chase that dream, be comfortable being uncomfortable, even if everything crashes and burns you can look back at the experience while at death’s door and smile knowing that you at least gave it a shot instead of soaking in the ‘what if’."
